Sticky because the Prawns caught on this side of Falmouth bay are more succulent, juicy and sweet than others. This wonderful quayside restaurant is brimming with continental character; it is intimate, relaxed and fabulously positioned-surrounded by still waters with views of Falmouth and the estuary that cannot be beaten. This gives the restaurant and its location a certain romance, sitting outside on a sunny day you could be in the south of France or on the Italian Riviera without the crowds and bustle, the location is serene and calm.
Fresh Local produce is used to create an exciting bistro-style menu to suit all occasions and all ages - from little bites to main meals. Father and son team Paul and Ben have built a healthy reputation for the quality of food and the ambiance, Ben and Paul change the style of the menu twice a month.
The restaurant used to be the old resting rooms for the fishermen who ran the Packet Ships, once an extremely busy quay, Flushing is now a tranquil haven for visitors and locals to sit and watch the world go by, Flushing marks the start and finish of the coastal walk and the Sticky Prawn the perfect place to retire to after the mild exertion.
The restaurant is long and thin with granite walls, soft wood furnishings and featuring intimate booths where one can sit and lose yourself as you get the impression you are actually on a boat. There is covered and heated outside seating for over forty diners.
The mission statement is "we don't do normal" what Paul and Ben are referring to is that they are a personality run business with laid back yet attentive service, anything goes and they will meet the needs of the most demanding diner, special dietary needs are catered for as are vegetarians with a wide choice permanently available.
During the winter months the menus reflect the abundance of locally sourced meat and game, all the extras like breads are made on the premises and organic products are used where possible.
As members of the Food in Cornwall Association they are committed to using local ingredients and supplies, seasonal and fresh produce and an extra degree of care, the service also is friendly and
efficient, nothing is too much trouble and bon homie reigns.
The wine list is something of a personal project of Paul's and he constantly strives to track down, the unusual and esoteric, always with an eye on value. Paul has developed the list to be eclectic yet covers all the bases, with an excellent selection of house wines, eleven in all, available by the glass, supplemented by a balanced selection of characterful wines from around the world.

"A main course of Dover sole, a giant specimen that is good and fresh
and cooked just right, eating it with a green salad and a glass of wine,
while watching the yachts bob in the bay, is about as good as it gets."
